2011 {Fashion} Resolutions
December 17, 2010
By Katrice
I stopped making New Year's resolutions a long time ago. I'm always seeking balance and resolve in my life, and thus am prone to making changes when the need arises. It could be the next moment or the next day. It's probably the only area I could describe myself as spontaneous in. But, I'm going to try something different this year and make some resolutions that involve my wardrobe. This should be fun!
1. Do more with less.
I made a pact with my bff that whenever I made a new purchase that I would get rid of something out of my closet. I held fast to that agreement for a few months, but then I fell off. Needless to say, I'm a tad over the limit of my closet space. So, I'm playing catch up with my trips to the consignment shop and thrift store, AND diversifying my use of a few fabulous and classic pieces.
3. New Natural Hair Rules.
My short list: Bantu knots. Faux hawk. Bun. Flat twists. I have mastered the old school fro. I'm pretty confident in my twist out. I'm ready to try some other styles. Fingers crossed.
5. Get back to wearing the pants.
I lost weight last year and my pants stopped fitting well. And then I started integrating jeans into my work attire more often. Between wearing dresses and jeans, I haven't worn a pair of slacks in so long that I almost shun the thought. But, I am headed to the tailor to have my fav slacks re-fitted. It's about versatility.

So inspiring, beautiful post. Thank you Katrice xx
ReplyDeleteKatrice, this really inspired me for the upcoming 2011 year. It's always easy to make new year's resolutions but challenging to stick by and follow them. I've always made sure that before I purchase new clothes I clean out my closet and either donate or give away. I can't stand clutter and I try to stay organized. Your post makes me more excited about entering the new year. Thank You!!
ReplyDeleteThank you ladies! :)
ReplyDeleteYou are doing an awesome job!!!!
ReplyDeleteHey Katrice!
ReplyDeleteInstead of going to the consignment shop, I can just take those clothes off your hands! I promise you won't have to worry about them being abused!! ;)
Thank EEHB!! Lady D ... you just may be able to get something out of this who endeavor. lol

I love the green. It's interesting how things get into your psyche. After doing this post, I bought a green cardigan yesterday in that shade and didn't even realize it was the same color until now.
ReplyDeleteLove the resolutions! Very original. I have decided my resolution is to simply wear more HEELS! :)
ReplyDeleteThis is a AWESOME post! I truly enjoyed this reading. I am always making goals for the upcoming year regarding my personal investments of me and this just motivates me more! Maybe a public declaration of my goals would hold me accountable.
ReplyDeleteThanks Rebecca and S. Nicole. Rebecca, I need to make a resolution to take a break from heels. : )
ReplyDeleteI am just getting caught up ... Happy New Year :-). Love the resolutions!!! I, too, try to make it a habit of "buy one - donate one." LOVE the bold colors and I agree: FAB does not need to wait for a special day.
