Work the Background

February 11, 2013

By Katrice

I have been inspired all morning by the news that Pope Benedict XVI is retiring. Let me explain. My excitement has nothing to do with him, directly, as I know that he has been greatly esteemed and had to have been a great man to have even made it to the monumental post. However, as soon as I heard that he was stepping down by his own volition, my mind immediately went to the next person who will be elected. I realized that this person, whoever it is, may have believed they would not ever have this opportunity. Yet, they didn't stop working in the background.

Figuratively, this is me in all of my pursuits. Yesterday, I posted on my social media pages, have the courage to keep trying {no matter how many times it takes}. For me, this is all in the same vein.

If you have a desire or a dream or a promise from God, keep working. When you are ready, God will present the door. Your gift will make room for you. Prepare!

  1. This also made me think of the group "Fun" (I know, lol!) and their acceptance speech. They have been working on their music for 12 years, living at home, not making much money. Look at them now. Persistence in the background is so important!

  3. Let everyone say, "Amen." When I logged on to MSN I saw one of the possible successors is African. I immediately smiled, at the possibility, as I have never seen a person that looks like me hold the highest position in the Catholic church. Great post, thanks for the reminder!

Love that! People are always saying things like "you can't do anything with that major" or "you're gonna have a hard time finding a job in that field", and I know that if I work hard and do what I love, a door will open up for me when it's time.

    1. Absolutely Laneé. It's about being prepared when the opportunity arises. People think they're helping and being real ... they have no idea.

    1. When you don't mind working the background with the same fervor as you'd work in the foreground, it's only a matter of time before your change comes. xx
