My bathroom closet is my favorite place in the house. It's where I keep my beauty arsenal and so it's where my heart is. If you follow me on IG, you know that I'm always trying something new. So, the list of what I love is ever-growing and evolving (mostly growing). And since I often receive messages asking about my beauty regiment, I thought I'd post a few of the products that I keep at my fingertips this summer.
- I disovered shu uemura cleansing oils after receiving a sample of a moisturizing face oil at Sephora last winter. I have extremely oily skin so I was hesitant to try applying any oil to my face but the results led me to do more research on facial oils and to eventually try an oil cleanser. I love it. While I don't consider my skin product-sensitive, I have consistent breakouts and am always working on fading blemishes. shu uemura's Mika Whitefficient Clear Brightening Gentle Cleansing Oil gives my skin a thorough cleansing without stripping it.
- My skin gets a few shades darker in the summer and so I use different foundations at different times. My three go-tos right now: Revlon Colorstay Foundation, Make Up Forever HD Foundation and Iman's Second to None Foundation Stick. My favorite of the three is the foundation stick. It gives me a great all-day matte finish. If I want a dewy look though, I opt for Make Up Forever.
- I wanted to try a different scent this summer and had read a review of fresh parfums. So, I opted for its Citron de Vigne Eau de parfum. A sparkling citrus scent inspired by France's Champagne region, I wear it every day.
- I blogged about Qhemet Biologics Cocoa Tree Detangling Ghee a few years ago as I realized after using it that the right conditioner could totally transform your hair. I have a dense coarse afro that is easily tangled. With this conditioner, my hair is soft and lush.
- I used to swear by my favorite Volum' Express Colossal Mascara; Sephora's Outrageous Volume - Dramatic Volume Mascara gives it a good bit of competition. Let's just say, it's dramatic.
- I had been seeing eos lip balm in the checkout area of Target for months before I finally decided to try it. I'll admit it was the shape that lured me into buying it but I appreciate that it actually does keep my lips moisturized at night. I keep it handy on my nightstand.
- The superstar of my summer must-haves is this L.A. Girl HD Pro Concealer. I saw a friend post about it on IG and my jaw dropped when she came back with rave reviews about it for the rock-bottom price of $1.99 at most beauty supply stores. What!? And yes, it delivers. P.S. It comes in 18 shades, so you're sure to find one that's perfect for you.
- I exfoliate my lips once a week with my own DIY mix. What you need: Honey, Sugar, Vaseline Petroleum Jelly. How to mix: Start with 1 tsp. of sugar in a small container {that you can also store it in} and add 2 Tbsp. of honey. Last, add a small amount of Vaseline. If from a tube, the amount you release would be just about an inch and a half in length. Mix all of the ingredients until you have a honey-hued gritty balm.

Thanks for these tips. I'm definitely adding some of these things to my shopping list. I have the hardest time finding a good matching foundation. Right now I have a tan so what I'm wearing is matching perfectly. When my tan fades nothing matches.
ReplyDeleteHave you ever tried a tinted moisturizer? I used to use one by Estee Lauder that I loved when my friend worked there. Once she left, I lost my grasp on their offerings.
